Plexus VR Gloves
Posted by: Greg Overman on 2018-07-06

Can VR gloves be the next big step to creating a "Ready Player One" reality? It seems logical that having smaller form fitting controllers or interface devices will push us in that direction. However, the biggest obstacle in developing new VR tech is clearly the cost of such set ups. Plexus seems to have come up with a budget friendly solution.

Plexus has aimed there sites at developers first, offering kits for 250$ (usd). This is a bargain in comparison to the 1000$ kits that were offered not to long ago by other vr companies.  Using this tactic will allow developers to get there hands in sooner with less risk and "if the glove fits" we might be seeing upcoming titles compatible with the plexus gloves.

The gloves themselves are pretty high tech, offering integration with multiple vr controllers and tracking every motion your hands and individual fingers make. This will make VR even more immersive with hands that  move with yours instead of the strange floating controllers. Haptic feedback in the fingertips will also give the user sensations of holding objects and further the immersion into the game or project.

The Plexus gloves are certainly a step in the right direction in my opinion. With haptic feedback, more accurate motion tracking and a more natural feel this may be the product that gives VR the next boom in popularity.
